In a residential building standing in Vienna the wish arose to build an indoor swimming pool. Since the situation did not permit overground development of the garden, the idea gradually took shape of constructing an underground space for the pool.

With the idea of a space evocative of “long-distance travel”, the “home pool” is transformed into an air inclusion encased in the earth mass. The pool is connected to the villa by a extended ramp, while the extension into the underground level opens up to the outside through sightlines inside and out.
